They spend that vast majority of their lives safely tucked underground in their burrows where they sit in ambush for prey to wander by. Female tarantulas additionally can live impressive lifespans reaching ages of 8-9-10 years and beyond even in the wild! Males however only have a short time once mature to find a female!
